Organised by the West Riding Bus Group, our first-ever running day event took place on 22nd May 2011, with a base on Heath Common, near Wakefield. A dozen buses ran in service, and crowds of bus enthusiasts and families with children brought picnics and spent the day riding on the buses. The street collection raised £208.99. This money will go towards the restoration and upkeep of the buses at Dewsbury Bus Museum.
We are very grateful to Metro, who allowed us to run our services into bus stations at Dewsbury, Ossett, Castleford and Pontefract.
Arriva, as usual, were extremely generous in allowing us to run six buses per hour from Wakefield Bus Station, and provided us with a bus to use as a control centre and staff rest room on a rather breezy Heath Common.
The event will be repeated, with improvements, in May next year. The date will be published as soon as it is finalised.
This page contains photographs of most of the buses that ran at the event. If you have put your own photographs or videos of the day on the internet, please let us know and we will provide a link for you on this page.

Dewsbury Bus Museum member June Hare was a "clippie" at the Yorkshire Woollen Frost Hill depot, where she started work back in 1951. She came out of retirement specially for the running day, working on Huddersfield 472 to Pontefract and back, and on our own "Ethel" (West Riding 733) between Dewsbury and Heath Common.

An unexpected bonus was the immaculate Western National 2019 (824 KDV) which stepped in at the last minute to cover a trip for a visitor who couldn't make it when his radiator sprung a sudden leak.

The surprise vehicle for the mystery tours was this open-topper, Southdown 267 (BUF 267C), which proved a very popular attraction, in spite of the strong winds during the afternoon.
